How to Make Potato-Stamped Gift Wrap

Instead of purchasing a roll of wrapping paper at the store, bring your kids around the table to make custom hand-stamped paper with potatoes and paint. This old-school craft project is still a great way to get kids involved in the season of giving.

Materials Needed

white potatoes

metal cookie cutters

knife

cutting board

acrylic paint

1/2" flat artist brush

colored, white and brown Kraft paper

Create Potato Stamp

Using a sharp knife, cut large white potato in half (Image 1). Press metal cookie cutter firmly into potato half (Image 2). Next, cut around cookie cutter at about 1/2" depth, so the potato portion inside cookie cutter will protrude 1/2" to create the stamp (Image 3). Remove cut slice of potato around cookie cutter (Image 4) then remove cookie cutter from potato. You now have your completed stamp.
